Our psychotherapists use a model of treatment that integrates several treatment approaches including the work of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy®
, and the latest in brain research.
We usually begin treatment by providing parents with support and education so that they can be the therapeutic parents they want to be with their children. When the child or youth enters the treatment process, parents remain in session as an integral part of the healing process.
Overall, the approach we take is that of SPACE: Safety, Support, Structure, Supervision, Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy
. We work to look under the behaviors to help the child or youth discover the meaning of the behavior, and to connect their actions with underlying/ emotions and trauma.
We meet families where they are at – both in their home and emotionally – and we work to facilitate independent coping and problem-solving skills. Our approach to working with parents may best be characterized by a parent himself. Click here
